homeless michael from ny pausing on his walk toward the civic center. michael
has been in sf for many years. he came because of the music scene. he wants to
be a jazz musician. he plays the recorder and often performs in the bart
station.
I never met a homeless person until yesterday. I met with my brother and he is homeless. They are not mean people like I always thought. He wants to be off of the streets, but we don't help our homeless. Americans help the ones that don't try to help themeselves. He "wants" to help himself, but how?
My God, your work goes beyond words. The time and care you take to search out the people that "live" inside these wasted shells is the epitome of what all religions aspire to teach (and so few people care to practice.)
I am continually astounded by the humanity of your portraits and the depth of your compassion.
You have defenitily the most nice portraits from flickr... very humble...
though i have one small question, how do you approach these people? do you just ask them? or do you give them money?
I'm very interested in portraits of people, but it seems that I don't have the courage to ask...
A very beautyfull set de "Gueules" (in french).
A great look on these people, it is not given to every body to can photography human persons maybe specially these ones. Nice "work".
