homeless lorraine from the bay area. she's about 65. says she used to live in shelters but she speaks her mind and people don't like that. says she's better off on her own.

says she has her child with her though; a baby. well, not with her now; says she's hidden it so it'll be safe.

this country that most Americans will never face.

The amount of food that we throw out and te money we waste is deplorable.
One of the bigest problems we will have to face is taking care of

A poignant photo. A terrible fate. And the visible signs of mental illness (as Kenny and Steve has mentioned), which one can detect by looking at her gaze. Aside from the photograph being just perfect, the life story isn't, and unfortunately the street life hasn't put any beauty marks on this woman. Your work is just breathtaking! You definitely know where to place yourself giving allowance to your subjects to liberate all their inner essence into your lenses. Great job!

Wow. My maternal grandmother lived much of her older years in the streets, where she probably died. I was too young to know her more than in passing or to know someone should have tried to help her. Your photo has made me think of this mysterious woman for the first time in many years... Mental illness is of course tragic.
