homeless drifter "you can call me james." when asked where he's from, "everywhere's rome to me."

i was complaining about the lighting and he said that's ridiculous; the lighting was perfect for a portrait. he said he was once a photgrapher of some sort but it was difficult to pin him down on anything.

speaking with him a few days ago (late jan 06), his name's actually thaddeus.

He looks like a Jedi with that hood on.

Love the way the shaddows mark out every nook and cranny in his face.

 This is my favorite one, His eyes, the gesture of his mouth, the scars on his nose, the black hood. All together--PERFECT!

 For me this one has an uncanny resemblance to a famous image by David Douglas Duncan, from the Korean War. Here is a link to it:

 When in Rome do as the Romans do?

What I am curious about was what you take your pictures on? I rarely ask, but you seem to get such a good high contrast b&w that I am jealous. :)

 This image is very powerful! Superbly executed. In fact, this image tells a story by itself. The subject's face is so well captured. Every detail of his skin and face and his stare connects with me a million words seem to flow from them. I love the portrai.

Great3 in ::the eye:: pool.

 Wonderful. It is perfectly lit, and a very expressive portrait too. I think the story adds something too - I live in an area with a lot of homeless people on the street and it's so easy to just walk on by and forget that these are people with their own stories.

- Great! in ::the eYe:: -
