I give change to that man all the time. Usually right after I enjoy a burrito at Gordo's. He's a nice man, who certainly dosen't harass you. He's one of the few I will give money to. What a great image. You captured so much, well done!
I will make a sloppy translation of Mauricio's comment.
"Portrait is a genre that for centuries has kept the escence of discovering our own ways to see, and what surrounds us. The series of portraits of the street is a desperate cry, an urgent call to look within, to search deep within our intimacy, in our shame and sadness, in our joy and anguish, in disdain and in the intimate relation with the others. In this portraits, you don't pose. We just are reflected on the mirror of our own unawareness."

I am a bit surprised over this picture. He looks a bit like me (even the hands) and... Well, that sounds like something I'd say, so. Uhm.
Sorry, I don´t speak english but I say you: your photos are very nice and interesting. Congratullations.
I guess you can always tell stories through people's eyes...that's one of the main reasons i enjoy visiting your photostream...the portraits capture so much emotion...and you usually add a short story which makes the shots even more interesting...
And what's luck in life? We can all have such bad luck as to go down. We're not free from that. What is different, is how everyone considers his own situation, whichever it is.
Much it is, for Alan, being in his situation, to say what he says.
sometimes less is more...and i think it applies to this man's story~ i always find every story that is attached interesting, and in the faces i see each word~ i like the simplicity here~ very cool~
