It's amazing when you think she's so beautiful in 'another life' she could be a wealthy model.
What are we doing to our youth? And what will that mean for all of our futures..?
A stunning portrait, stoneth. Strong in composition, lighting and inspiration. A favorite.

wonderful portrait. i find in fascinating and heartbreaking that i so readily see the beauty in her face, captured in this portrait, viewed from the safety of my home and computer screen; if i'm honest, in person i may likely avert my eyes from her gaze, walk quickly by, praying that she would not look at me, pretending she did not exist. thank you for forcing us all to look her in the eyes.

May she find some source of happiness and power to control as much of her destiny as may be possible. Excellent photo stoneth! These images remind me of when I was a wanderer in my late teens and early 20s... I sometimes lived in an old diesel suburban. However, I always had something to return to, school and family. I knew people during those times who had nothing but themselves and the places they found themselves in.

What has been said here is all very touchy and I am sure stoneth is glad his image gets so much an accolade but I have a bit different idea - let's make a bidding and see how much this image will reach. stoneth give the dough to this girl and the winner gets an original, signed 16 x 12 in print, unframed. What do you think? £10 from me.

I'm really glad that there are so many who visit and appreciate your highly professional and ethical street portraits. It is important to share such records as those you constantly and so meticulously are capturing and presenting on Flickr.
I really hope that some of these people are moved to do something worthy for the at-risk kids growing up in their own communities, wherever these may be, before those kids reach the stage of hopelessness. Only then will we see less homeless people living on the streets.

We all need to care for those who have been less fortunate in their journey through life. In many cases, just a little more personal love and caring can rescue lives.

Am in tears. It has all been said...your work is inspirational & has (re)moved me in an instant from the callous shell I realise I have grown as an adaption to urban survival.

There is a saying in NYC that everyone has a special "homeless" person he or she has adopted and I have a few. Just last night, the one I call "Santa Clause" - an elderly man with TB - ... the one I "adopted" upon arrival, surfaced after a very long absence.

After arriving to the ferry terminal amongst a dizzying array of fleet week soldiers parading about, I noticed an ambulance - lights blaring. Waiting, I watched as the EMT crew walked out in very casual manner - they were visibly in "routine" mode. Then, I watched as "Santa" came slowly trailing - now hobbling & relying heavily upon his walking stick. After speaking with the EMT agents, they explained "Santa" didn't want to go with them & that he wasn't "cooperating". I told them I knew him & might I have a try?

He was filthier than ever, stank & bore the sad look of a broken man who had witnessed too many tradgeties of a difficult life. I took him by the hand & he looked into my eyes, began crying & said, "The Pretty One!" - his name for me. I gave him a cigarette, some moeny & helped him into the ambulance.

Afterwards, I stood silently thinking & realised in all these years, after making & bringing him food & money, that I still don't know his name. Is that part important? It seems you have not only learned a name, but have also succeeded in putting an honest "face" on homlessness. Your work is wonderfully soulful. Thanks for the humbling moment.

 She reminds me....

I met two kids pan handling yesterday in the East Village (kinda punky) in NYC - Took them to a place for dinner - a cool "hot dog" place on St. Marks Place called "Crief Dog". They are from Oregon, just travelling. I never took their photo, and that's not like me. I hope they do more than OK this summer - good kids.

Well what can I say that every one has not said yet, but I have noticed u are really trying to step yourself up, when you don't have to, you are already gifted and great because you see the inner beauty in all your thoughts of enlightenment.
Now sometimes there are setups required, and to set up your pictures is to be a great artiest with a "eye”, and "balance is important" and you have it.
So I just want to say you have it all so keep being you and if someone says different to you, well to bad for them, they must suck at what they do!
